It's not the fear of the thing, or the doing, that keeps you stuck.
We hear all the time. "Go forward – act your way out of fear, fail, learn from the lessons". Without a doubt, action is the key ingredient to creating movement, change and growth.
You can’t think your way to these things.
But here is the other thing.
It's not the fear of the external event that has you stuck. And if left unaddressed, that fear will be knockin at the next level.
What has you stuck is the fear that the belief you have been championing in your mind is true.
I know many people who intuitively succeed. They seem to go from here to there seamlessly. How is that?

Through a practice of mindful presence, I now know that peace in life and fulfilled sleep will be elusive until I unpacked the issue and sit (in this case — lay) with the emotion underneath it.
With a few deep breaths, I asked the angst, “what is this about?” It took only a moment to surface. Earlier in the day, a colleague from a common group shared that the leadership was inviting them to explore a business opportunity. “Ok, there it is” I told myself, “their success is not your failure.” I rationalized, “I’m happy for them and the opportunity in front of them,” and I was. I could have left it at that, convincing myself that all was good.

If you know me – you know I covet the annual stack of new books tucked beside my Christmas stocking (purchased by me).
For a number of years, I have read 3-4 books at a time; equally variously espousing my learnings. The consumption became an end in itself. Over time, the more I consumed, the less I integrated into my leadership practices and the more I was coming off rather soapbox and broken record-ish.
Do you have your word? your intentions? your goals? or your declaration or resolution?
Take your pick – they all add up to about the same – different words to benchmark or express how you want to be different, grow or accomplish in 2022.
But rest assured, irrespective of the term or process you’ve mulled over in the last few days, within a few short weeks, your opus can easily be lying on the floor with the laundry.
So, what then. How do you look back on December 31st, 2022 and say – “I have grown, I have transformed, I have become and accomplished in alignment with my vision set out on January 1st, 2022.
